Brazilian Researchers Claim The Novel Coronavirus Resistant To 99% InaRctivation In 2 Minutes

A novel coronavirus can inactivate more than 99% of viruses within two minutes of touching it, according to Brazilian media reports. The researchers believe the fabric could be used to make things like masks and protective clothing.

The study was carried out by the Institute of Biomedical Sciences at the University of Sao Paulo, Brazil, a start-up company and others. The fabric is reportedly made of polyester cotton and silver particles. To test the effect of inactivating the virus, the researchers placed a large number of novel Coronavirus cells in a test tube, followed by the cloth. The experiment was conducted twice, one with the cloth placed in the test tube for two minutes and the other with the 99.9% novel Coronavirus activated.

“The concentration of novel Coronavirus in the test tube is much higher than that of novel Coronavirus in the mask. Novel Coronavirus nevertheless novel coronavirus is highly effective.” Lucio Freitas, a researcher at the Institute of Biomedical Sciences at the University of Sao Paulo.

Researchers have known in the past that metal particles such as silver have some antibacterial properties. Researchers are currently evaluating the durability of the cloth against the novel Coronavirus effect.
