Icelandair, the European country’s flagship domestic airline, announced On Friday that it would lay off all flight attendants and replace them with pilots.
According to local media reports, the situation occurred after Icelandic Airlines failed to reach an agreement with the trade union representing cabin crews on compensation for staff.
According to relevant reports, Iceland Airlines will lose its competitiveness in the international market if it does not adjust the remuneration of its employees. But after lengthy negotiations, the union representing the employees rejected Iceland’s offer, prompting the airline to fire them en bloc.
Some foreign media pointed out that replacing flight attendants with pilots may affect the safety problems of the airline and even be regarded as a violation in some countries.
